Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What does NGen stand for?
A. Next Generation (pronounced ‘engine’). The name reflects the future of forward thinking within the media industry, which is in a constant state of movement, much like an engine.

Q. Why was NGen launched?
A. Members of the MFA Executive recognised the need to create a community, which would inspire the development of young media specialists through a range of informative, exciting and inspiring forums. It was also important to provide these individuals with a voice in the industry and to create an opportunity for them to shine.

Q. How do I know if my company is an MFA Member?
A. If you work for a media buying agency, you can go the MFA website on www.mediafederation.org.au to check or just ask your CEO.

If you work for a media owner, go to the Club Members page of this website to see if your employer is listed.

Q. What if the company I work for is not an MFA member?
A. NGen is financed by MFA member subscriptions and NGen Media Club Member. If you don’t work for an MFA member agency then unfortunately you’re not eligible to participate.

Opportunity for individual membership may be available in the near future, so keep up to date with what we are doing by checking out this website or reading industry press.

Q. Do I have to pay anything to become a member of NGen?
A. No, NGen is fully funded by MFA member subscriptions and NGen Club Members.

Q. Will NGen be open to other industries in the communications field?
A. Currently our priority is to launch and maintain a strong and successful program of activities to benefit our members; however in the future we look forward to expanding this into the broader communications field.

Q. Am I guaranteed a position to attend every NGen event?
A. NGen strives to provide its members with access to all our activities. However if there is a need to restrict too many numbers to a particular event we will try to reschedule another time so everyone has the opportunity to attend and participate.

Q. How does the NGen committee work?
A. The NGen committee is made up of a group of individuals from MFA member agencies and NGen Club Members that recognise the core needs of the NGen community. It is the committee’s responsibility to help shape the program and bring great initiatives into fruition. Members of NGen are always welcome to offer feedback to the committee representatives for consideration.

Q. What do I have to do if I want to get more actively involved in NGen?
A. Communication is a key factor to the success of NGen and contributions from its members are vital. If you want to be more involved and run a project yourself, just contact us and send the details. We can either support you in your plans or inform members what you are doing.

Q. What if I have been in the industry longer than five years, can I still register to become a member?
A. Any special requests to register for interest should be lodged with us at contact@ngen.org.au and the committee will review each request individually.
